Health Management Systems, Inc. Senior Proposal Writer - Remote in TX, Texas

The Senior Proposal Writer writes accurate and compelling content for various lines of business to reflect HMS’s unique qualifications, value propositions, win themes, strategic messaging, and solutions for use in responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP’s) and Requests for Information (RFI’s) for healthcare –related services.

Essential Functions:

  • Interview and collaborate with subject experts and proposal team members to gather information and provide high-quality proposal responses.

  • Work with operations, client –facing program/account directors, sales team, senior leadership, marketing and others to develop new content for proposals, and customize existing content to reflect specific client requirements within required timeframes

  • Research and collaborate with subject matter experts and operations teams on the most effective way to present proposed solutions

  • Research available data including product information, operational concepts, technical approaches, drawings, design reports, equipment and test specifications in support of proposal development

  • Write clear, persuasive and articulate proposal sections; translates technical and other solutions into easily understandable text describing clear and measureable benefits

  • Ensure content is accurate, complete, meets editorial and departmental specifications and adheres to standards for quality, format and style.

  • Serve as an internal proposal team “SME” on assigned product lines, fine-tuning and customizing content to meet specific requirements. Participate in relevant meetings, formal proposal reviews, strategy sessions, and marketing meetings and other forums to ensure accurate and compelling

  • content is developed for proposals.

  • Participate in strategy development and solutioning/ storyboarding sessions with SMEs, proposal contributors, and product teams to develop key messages and differentiators

  • Interview subject experts to develop new content, and work with identified experts and reviewers to ensure information is fully vetted prior to use

  • Collaborate with graphic designer to illustrate key processes and ensure that there are graphical representations of all key elements of the proposal, as appropriate. This may also include tables and charts

  • Review proposal responses with internal subject experts and make revisions based on feedback

  • Analyze responses to determine compliance with RFP requirements, and revise content as needed to meet requirements

  • Develop content in compliance with company standards for accuracy, quality writing, and marketing focus.

  • Maintain well-organized electronic documentation of content and support the proposal database maintenance process by updating content as services and solutions change.

  • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Work Conditions and Physical Demands:

  • Primarily sedentary work in a general office environment

  • Requires manual dexterity to use computer, telephone and peripherals

  • May be required to work extended hours for special business needs

  • May be required to travel at least 10% of time based on business needs

Minimum Education:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required with major in English/Communications/Journalism/Marketing preferred

Minimum Related Work Experience:

  • 6 years of experience developing new content for proposals and interviewing subject experts

  • Demonstrated ability to describe complex concepts and services and develop the level of detail required in response to healthcare RFPs.

  • Experience writing content for both government and commercial proposals preferred
