Tenet Healthcare Referral Coordinator - San Antonio MSO in San Antonio, Texas

General Summary: A non-exempt medical office position responsible for all referrals for the medical offices in the market

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  1. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.

  2. Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.

  3. Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.

  4. Process patient referrals for the practices in the market

  5. Facilitates orders outside to outside facilities.

  6. Coordinate scheduling of office visits for the referred patient

  7. Assist patient with finding resources that accept the various insurances

  8. Obtains pre-authorization from payers.

  9. Calls insurance companies to get medications approved that may have been denied due to formulary changes.

  10. Logs in daily to system to check status of patient not mapped correctly and updates patient charts

  11. Set up referring providers, payers and chart mergers in the Electronic System.

  12. Additional responsibilities as needed.

Education: High school diploma/GED required with completion or a medical assisting or medical office assistant program preferred.

Certification : Prefer healthcare management/administration or Medical Assistant certification.

Experience: Must have a minimum of four years of experience working in a medical office setting

  1. Knowledge of insurance verification process

  2. Knowledge of specific Insurances such as Medicare and Tricare Prime

  3. Knowledge of documentation required for physician appointments.

  4. Knowledge of Electronic Health Systems

  5. Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD - 10 and CPT codes

  6. Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to provide effective patient care.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, calculators, etc.

Work Environment: Position is in a well-lit office environment. Occasional evening and weekend work.
