Position Description

This position represents a key member of a multi-discipline team that adds value to the Asset through solid geologic and geophysical skills. This position works in concert with the SACROC Development, Drilling, Construction and Surveillance Teams to provide geologic support for a large and active CO2 flood. Position level commensurate with experience and skill level.

Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry

  • Currently living in, or willing to move to Midland, TX

  • Master’s Degree in Geoscience, or comparable industry experience required.

  • Demonstrated mastery of Petra geologic software including, but not limited to:

  • Map, Cross-Section, Spreadsheet, Log Cross Plot, Z Data Cross Plot modules

  • PhiH calculations and mapping

  • Pattern and stratigraphic volumetrics

  • Computations from logs using equation expressions, substitution, advanced transforms

  • Merging log curves

  • Creating proposed horizontal well trajectories

  • Aliasing curve names and formation tops

  • Import/export of logs, perfs, casing, liners, TD, production streams, etc.

  • Updating well bore designs

  • Calibrating and digitizing raster logs

  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines required by an active expansion/drilling program

  • Team Lead over Geophysicist and Geo-Technician

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with functionally diverse teams

  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations

  • Good overall practical oilfield operations knowledge

  • Waterflood and/or CO2 flood experience a plus

  • MS Office - proficiency with general applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
