ExpressJet Airlines, Inc Mgr-Materiels in HOUSTON, Texas


The Manager-Materiels reports directly to the General Manager-Parts logistics. The Manager-Materiels will be responsible for the overall Material and Logistics support at assigned locations. This will include coordinating with the local Maintenance Management, the other Stores Management and Inventory Control to ensure aircraft material inventory is available in assigned locations to support overnight scheduled maintenance and MELs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Ensure Stores are operated to the defined Company procedures and that transactions are performed properly in the company MROS.

  • Work closely with Maintenance and Quality to ensure that inventory is available when required and good communication exists on requirements.

  • Ensure accurate inventory at Stores locations and perform required inventory counts for parts at Stores locations.

  • Monitor parts queues in the MROS to ensure that material is moved and transacted in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate with other Stores and Inventory Control on the movement of parts between stations.

  • Responsible for performance evaluations, vacation schedules and attendance reports for all subordinates.

  • Take required actions to bring needed parts into the station to accomplish aircraft maintenance visit as planned.

  • Assist with the development of the annual profit plan.

  • Operate Stores locations within approved financial parameters (both material and labor).

  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure parts are neatly stocked in location.

  • Exercise responsible shipping practices to minimize freight costs.

  • Meet monthly inventory performance metrics.

  • Monitor physical bin locations and advise Inventory Control of low/no stock conditions.

  • Manages Targets set in staffing for the stores locations.

  • Ensures personnel are qualified to perform duties where training is required.

  • Oversees the physical Inventory.

  • Approves inventory adjustment requests.

  • Ensures inventory is secured from unauthorized personnel.

  • Ensures locations have the adequate supplies and materials to perform job duties in a safe and timely manner, hire, train, develop and evaluate subordinate employees, take corrective actions as necessary in a timely manner with company policy to address any deficiencies in performance, ensure compliance with all current federal, state, local and company labor requirements.

  • Performs OJT as required and ensures OJT records are signed and completed correctly.

  • Coordinates with Training Department for any scheduled training required for Aircraft Spares stores personnel.

  • All specific job functions as outlined in associated Maintenance GMM sections and SOP's.

  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager-Parts Logistics.


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Two to four years' experience in stores operations or inventory management; preferable in the aviation industry (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience).

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Able to travel when needed on a regular basis.

  • Proficiency with computer programs such as Excel and MROS.

  • Able to train and operate stores equipment (pallet jack, forklift, etc.).

  • Current ExpressJet employees must have satisfactory performance and attendance in current position.


  • Previous experience at a Part 121 operator.

  • Previous management experience.

  • Previous warehouse experience.

  • Previous experience in related MROS.

  • Knowledge of financial accounting principles.
