DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Fleet Management Department is seeking candidates who can provide manage support within the Parts Room. Provide general information to Technicians and Shop Managers Serve as a "Lead Person in the absence of the Customer Service Manager providing training and customer assistance for quality service. Directs the operation of "Just In Time" warehouse storage areas, receiving areas or inventory controls and material management facility while overseeing Customer Service Operation. Performs administrative support functions in the ordering, purchasing, receiving, stocking, storing, issuance, distribution, maintenance and repair of various parts, tools, materials, supplies, equipment, inventory or surplus property.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position is physically comfortable most of the time with occasional periods of stooping, bending and/or lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. General office conditions. May require long periods of standing at counter.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a high school diploma or a GED.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Three years of administrative or customer service related experience is required. Associate's degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for up to four years of experience.

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to candidates with automotive body shop procurement parts experience. Knowledge of Microsoft programs and M5 experience is a plus. Candidates must be able to work independently and possess excellent interpersonal, communication and computer skills. Preference will also be given to candidates with a valid driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
