The Applications Engineer serves as a functional link between Sales, Operations, R&D, Sustaining Engineering, and Product Line Management with regard to new technologies and existing products and services. Performs engineering and operational services in support of all aspects of the sale and deployment of the Product Line.


Design and develop well completion designs from TD of drilling through to production of well. Most be proficient in all completion products lines

Develop well completion schematics for each well segment including but not limited to Liner Hangers, Gravel pack, Frac Pack, IWS completions, Packer systems, safety systems, flow control, sub sea wellhead systems, surface production systems, etc.

Develop well procedures for each well segment, as well as contingency procedures, including but not limited to Liner Hangers, Gravel pack, Frac Pack, IWS completions, Packer systems, safety systems, flow control, sub sea wellhead systems, surface production systems, etc.

Manage engineering tasks using established procedures, these include but are not limited to, tubing movements, stress analysis, material selection, cost estimation and tolerance studies.

Provide technical assistance to the client and region with support from the appropriate product support center and from the R&D center. Technical assistance will include but not limited to performance calculations (burst, collapse, tensile, torque, hanging capacity, surge calculations, etc…)

Perform analysis on problem jobs, coordinating with all parties involved (i.e. customer, operations, manufacturing, engineering and quality.)

Provide Product Line specific Technical support to the customers through sales presentations, training programs, and seminars.

Develop sales aids in the form of presentation material, CD’s documentation, and procedure manuals required for specific projects.

Provide technical support on customer requirements to sales & field operations.

Tender/bid pricing & support and provide implementation support for engineering technical bulletins.

Assist and prepare engineering computations & estimates.

Travel to provide engineering support as required by customers.

Perform engineering layouts for fit, form and function checking.

Coordinate with Engineering on conceptual designs.

Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, operating and technical procedures and workplace instructions.

Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.

Perform various other duties assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.


Experience in Deepwater Subsea Well Completion technology and Semi-Submersible rig operations.

Experience working stand alone in a customers’ office designing all facets of well completions.

Experience in tube move design, torque and drag modelling, gravel pack and frac pack modelling, crossover tool system modelling.

Requires basic Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access computer skills.

Competent computer software knowledge of Microsoft products: PP, Excel, SharePoint, Word

Ability to assign and delegate work, problem solve, answer questions, and evaluate results of performance

Ability to work in a matrix reporting structure

Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

Valid Passport and Driver’s License.

Ability to multi-task.

Ability to work and interact will all levels of personnel

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with five years’ plus experience

Ability to travel domestic and international when needed.


Willing and able to work in a rapidly changing environment

Capable of communicating directly with others inside of Weatherford about the performance of products in conventional situations.
