Who we’re looking for

The TFS-Risk Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Manager, Data Science.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide data science oversight and support to one of several possible areas. These include originations, collections, forecasting and/or residual value. The incumbent will balance hands on model development activities with providing direction to the business and management of a small high performing team. A successful candidate will bring 7 or more years of statistical modeling experience within consumer lending. Knowledge of the consumer credit lifecycle (marketing, originations, behavioral and collections treatment models) would be considered a significant plus. Experience in auto lending would be even more valuable. Advanced hands on statistical programming skills in SAS and SQL is a must, with R and Python being highly desired. Executive presence with the ability to distill complex analytical concepts and forecasts into consumable information is needed, along with past experience managing a small team (1-3 people) of quantitative professionals.

What you’ll be doing

Accurate predictions and applying the optimal treatment to consumers are keys to the success of Toyota Financial Services.. This role will oversee the development, maintenance and management of key models in support of the lending business that could include originations, collections, accounting, economic capital, etc.

Oversee team that develops the testing and modeling strategy to in support of consumer decisions Drive continuous innovation and improvement, through the use of best in class modeling and optimization techniques through delivery in partnership with the strategy owners

Build Innovation Pipeline for Turning Data into Actionable Intelligence
Lead from the front building cutting edge analytical capabilities, world class infrastructure, and developing employees who thirst using data to solve business problems.

Strong technical and people leader to work hands-on with high impact projects across risk analytics and decision science verticals

Lead, motivate, and develop a small team of 1-2 employees

Share your technical knowledge through hands-on development of Data Scientists and Analysts

People and Stakeholder Management
Responsible for talent recruitment, retention, development, and performance evaluation for a team of 1-3 quantitative professionals Work cross functionally with other groups within Risk/Data Science, Business Intelligence, Business Technology Solutions/IT, external vendors supporting Collections, external data vendors What you bring

Master’s degree/MBA or Ph.D. in Statistics, Financial Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering and other quantitative fields Demonstrated modeling experience and application of modeling outcomes, within the consume credit lifecycle Advanced hands on statistical expertise in SAS and SQL, with exposure to R and Python Demonstrated experience in managing a small team
