Advisory Software Engineer, IBM Corporation, Austin, TX: Develop, specify, and support Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools used to create integrated circuits in controlled methodology flows. Research and develop state-of-the-art EDA tools algorithms for high-performance microprocessor designs. Work with logic partitioning and synthesis, chip placement and routing, design closure, manufacturing design, power grid and signal integrity analysis, timing sign-off and analysis, test chip design, packaging, design data management, and verification. Ensure components are unit tested and integrable into system product. Fix defects identified by verification team. Develop designs across mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering. Test functional and reliability, availability, and serviceability aspects of implementation. Provide end-to-end resolutions of issues. Deliver quality systems to meet market needs. Work with microprocessor design and development teams. Contribute to specialized code development and documentation in electronic design automation. Utilize very-large-scale integration (VLSI) physical design, research and development of algorithms for design automation, power analysis and power grid analysis of integrated circuits, semiconductor physics, computer architecture, object-oriented programming, and scripting languages. Required: Master's degree or equivalent in Engineering or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master's degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant, or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing VLSI physical design, research and development of algorithms for design automation, power analysis and power grid analysis of integrated circuits, semiconductor physics, computer architecture, object-oriented programming, and scripting languages.
