Austin Industries Operations Manager - Construction (Industrial) - Oil, Gas, Chemical and Power in La Porte, Texas
Austin Industrial is a leading General Contractor that provides construction, maintenance, turnaround and plant services within the oil, gas, chemical, power and manufacturing industries.
Construction Operations Manager, will administer assigned contracts to ensure compliance with our company policies, as well as customer requirements and policies. Will coordinate the Company's management system on all contracts and direct the day-to day operations of assigned projects to achieve overall corporate objectives to ensure maximum operating results. This is a key position in the company with direct report to the Vice President of Construction and has very high visibility.
This position is based in Houston, TX and requires travel.
Supervises and communicates with assigned Project Managers on a regular basis to determine project status.
Meets regularly with customer representatives at each project to determine customer requirements, discuss performance and promote favorable customer relations.
Ensures proper fiscal management of projects including, set up, performance, change management and forecasting costs on required reporting basis.
Ensures proper implementation of contract requirements.
Implements and manages respective portion of the company strategic plan.
Identifies and implements value-added services to the customer.
Assures that safety and quality programs are fully implemented on each project.
Provides marketing, proposal and estimating support for existing and new contracts.
Ensures that company-wide resources are coordinated effectively to support the projects.
Assures proper indoctrination, coaching, training, development and MAP reviews are being provided to project staff employee owners.
Assures collection of account receivables and manages margin goals of assigned projects.

Prefer four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related degree Experience in project management with at least 1MM work hours in size.
Significant experience, 10 - 20 years, required at the Project Manager level and above overseeing the construction, small capital project programs or turnarounds of petrochemical facilities, refineries, and I or power plants. All with an emphasis on direct hire general contracting of civil, structural, mechanical electrical, instrumentation and soft crafts.
Successful lump sum project experience required.
Project controls experience preferred.
Experience in managing prime contract and subcontract execution as well as financial reporting.
Must be able to identify, promote and execute a vision of leadership.
Experience at directing multiple project managers.
Must be able to learn and then apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee-owner performance.
Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, being able to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
Must have strong computer skills in basic Microsoft Office suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Must be proficient at financial reporting and forecasting and interface with internal accounting.
Recent experience working for a general contractor
Must be willing to travel.
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US.
