Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Associate verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following & other duties may be assigned.

  1. Pull product as needed for shipment per work order and shipping instructions, ensuring product is properly labeled, packaged and scheduled for delivery in a manner to meet Company deadlines.

  2. Load and unload product and /or raw materials to and from trucks.

  3. Compare identifying information and count, weigh, and/or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, and/or other records.

  4. Assist production employees by delivering raw materials as needed for mixing.

  5. Prepare all shipping documents in a timely and accurate manner.

  6. Operate equipment in accordance with safety and productivity requirements, including forklifts to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.

  7. Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments, recording shortages and/or damaged items, corresponding with shipper to rectify any damages and/or shortages.

  8. Receive and process returned material for replacement or credit.

  9. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies, informing Warehouse Supervisor of supply needs.

  10. Ensure that warehouse is clean, orderly and organized in such a way to ensure accurate inventory count.

  11. Assist with applying Kan Ban & ITW Tool Box.

  12. Maintain work area in neat and orderly condition.

  1. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and/or oral instructions.

  2. Ability to resolve problems practically, involving concrete variables in standardized situations.

VII. CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

  1. Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift, HAZWOP, RCRA, Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous certification.

Constant need (66% to 100% of the time) engaged in the following activities:

  1. Standing or walking.

  2. Using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms to reach, grasp, and bend, flexing arms and wrist; turning torso and head.

  3. Verbal communication, talk and hear.

  4. Regular lifting, moving and/or carrying of material between eighty (80) and one hundred (100) lbs.

  5. Close distance and long-range vision

Requirements

V. QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  1. Demonstrated ability with basic machine functions to operate various machinery, tools, equipment and forklifts to safely and effectively perform the tasks stated above.

  2. Possess a good working knowledge and/or aptitude to learn numerous product descriptions to ensure accurate pulling and picking of customer orders.

  3. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  4. Minimum one (1) year manufacturing experience, preferably in an industry related environment required. Three (3) or more years experience preferred.

V. LANGUAGE/MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  1. Ability to communicate in English: read, write and speak and ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, customers and vendors.

  2. Competence in math computation necessary (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure).

  3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  4. Demonstrated ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
