Balfour Beatty is seeking a Survey CAD Technician with experience using Trimble Business Center, Terramodel and Microstation for the Southern Gateway joint venture project in Dallas, Texas. This position will survey design in the office, taking the filed plots, developing plans and profiles based on field data. Candidate should be able to come into the job and develop drawings based on survey data from the field. General contractor Balfour Beatty US in a joint venture with Irving-based Fluor Enterprises have landed a $625 million roadway reconstruction and improvement project along 35E and U.S. 67 at the southern gateway of Dallas. The 11-mile project will expand Interstate 35E from four lanes to five lanes in each direction, with plans to build two reversible, non-toll express lanes in the center of the thoroughfare. The interchange will also be improved by rebuilding the Interstate 35E and U.S. 67 interchange and widening U.S. 67 from Interstate 35E and Interstate 20 by adding a third lane in each direction. Pegasus Link Constructors (PLC) LLC, comprised of two of the world's largest, most experienced design-build firms: Fluor Enterprises Inc. and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Inc. Their successful 10-year partnership has resulted in many design-build projects in Texas over the last 15 years.
Transform field data to working drawings.
Review plans from civil engineers and/or architects and prepares drawings for construction staking using points, alignments and profiles.
Read and decipher field notes and apply to drawings.
Read construction drawings and prepare drawings for staking and excavation.
Compute volumes from design and field data.
Compute 3D models from design plans.
Basic knowledge of construction survey concepts.
Ability to read plans related to land survey, architecture, and civil engineering.
Three years’ experience with Survey Software.
Three or more years of construction field experience working in a field surveyor role.
Ability to work independently, as well as, part of a team.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to compute volume quantities and interpret contour models.
