American Bank Receptionist/Switchboard Operator - One Shoreline Branch in Corpus Christi, Texas

Receives and directs telephone calls for executive and lending officers, and other branch staff. Greets and provides information to customers by determining the nature of business, and directs incoming customers to destination.

Work as a team with other switchboard operators to ensure all customers receive prompt and courteous service.

Ability to operate a telephone and computer.

Thorough knowledge of staff names and their responsibilities in all Bank departments.

Assist customers on the telephone and in person by directing them to the appropriate bank department/employee.

Speak clearly and listen closely to callers to properly direct their telephone calls.

Ask questions when necessary to ascertain how to most appropriately direct incoming customer calls and visitors.

Answer all incoming calls promptly with a friendly and professional voice.

Deliver clear and accurate messages to all bank staff.

Assist other Switchboard Operators with Bank telephone calls.

Pick up, sort, and deliver Bank mail.

Distribute event tickets to Bank staff.

Compile and mail weekly customer new account letters.

General knowledge of the Phoenix Banking System.

General understanding of all products and services offered by American Bank.

Assist Customer Service, Administration, Legal, and other departments with special projects.

Ability to handle the switchboard and reception volume and assist other departments, balancing all duties while maintaining a calm demeanor.

Prior to changing, altering, or releasing any account information, responsible for authenticating the customer's identity and their authorization to act on behalf of the account as stated on the account's signature card contract.

Other duties and projects as assigned.

Customer Service

Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.

Consistently interact with internal and external customers in a manner consistent with the Bank’s Professional and Behavior standards.

Ability to operate a fax machine, photocopier, printer, and other required office equipment.

Assist officers and employees with other requests and duties.

1-2 years customer service experience required

Receptionist and switchboard experience preferred

Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills

Ability to accurately handle more than one telephone call at a time

Ability to work independently where the work volume varies

Working knowledge of PC programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook/Office 365)

Professional image in accordance with Bank Appearance Policy, established telephone etiquette standards, and customer service standards.
